Text to Text Connections

Text-to-text connections are connections that a reader makes between a text and another text.  When making these types of connections, students are asked to think about how a story reminds them of another story. To explore this concept, we have spent time listening to stories, sharing our favourite storybook characters, writing letters to a character and, examining the similarities and differences between stories. The following pictures illustrate our studies:

"The Gruffalo"

"Pete the Cat"
"Dear Wemberly, Don't worry about going to a new school
because your parents won't send you to a bad school."
"Dear Wemberly, Don't worry about the room smelling
bad because you could spray perfume".

"The Cat in the Hat"
"Dear Wemberly, Don't worry about Petal's ears because
they wouldn't fall off.  They are sewn on tight."
